Rolfing or Structural integration is a technique for improving the posture. The word “posture” may cause us to remember an unpleasant time when a parent scolded us to stop slouching. In an attempt to improve the appearance of our posture, we might tense our muscles and assume our version of the “stomach in, chest out, head up” stance of
the military.
In the view of Structural Integration, ideal posture is not based on one or another’s opinion of beauty or grace, but can be judged according to the design principles inherent in the body. Looking at
the body as a machine - a series of levers, pulleys and support beams - ideal posture is that position in which the body can support itself with the least amount of stress and from which it can move with the greatest efficiency.

Nicotine, when taken, increases the levels of the pleasure sensations in the body. It induces the brain chemicals serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine. Nicotine is a stimulant to the nervous system. It increases adreneline, raises blood pressure and heart rate. It also increases the body’s overall metabolic rate, body temperature, the degree of tension in muscles, and effects the levels of certain hormones.
It is quite a contra-indicator if you smoke a cigarette and then walk into your massage session. Forget the hypocrisy of telling your body you’re going to relax then jacking it up with a stimulant like nicotine, just imagine what the message is that is going on inside of you?

I found this to be a useful massage therapy blog. It provides insight into all areas of developing a massage practice, with a focus on the oft-neglected business side of things.

Enjoy.
“Your body is the river of life that sustains you, yet it does so humbly, without asking for recognition. If you sit and listen to it, you will find that a powerful intelligence dwells in and with you. It isn’t an intelligence of words, but compared to the millions of years of wisdom woven into one cell, the knowledge of words doesn’t seem so grand … You have to want to rejoin the flow of the body before you can learn from it, and that means you must be willing to open yourself to knowledge that was overlooked in your old way of seeing.”
- Deepak Chopra, Ageless Body, Timeless Mind

I’ve officially declared that this website is done. I’ve changed the color scheme a bit and added a logo and a couple of images. I’m sure I will still change this all up, but…
Oh, yeah…I also moved this whole site to a new domain:
http://onelightmassage.com/
That should set me back a month in terms of traffic, but that’s life.
Aha!
I’ve now added comment spam protection to this news area and enabled public commenting. Have at it!
The main method I used to eliminate comment spam was to simply rename my wp-comments-post.php and update any references to that page. Supposedly, this will stop almost all comment spam.
As an added measure, I installed the Math Comment Spam Protection Plugin. It’s simple enough in its usage and will add another layer of protection.
Finally, I enabled Akismet. That should do for now.
I also installed the Simple Trackback Validation Plugin to stop trackback abuses, and the fabulous Google Sitemaps Generator to keep Google (and friends) abreast of changes to my content.
If you are interested in other (free) webmaster tools, check out the actual Google Sitemaps toolset and Google Analytics. Nothing out there is comparable while still being this easy to use, as far as I know.
I’ve completed work on the majority of my site now! The site is located at:
http://onelightmassage.com
While the basic site has been done for a few days now, I’ve been working diligently with the theming of this WordPress install. Now, I think I’m done for the moment. Let me know if there are any issues with this theme.
This theme is based on gropher’s dxx2.0. I modified it heavily, ditching his CSS and essentially pouring his code into my template. I’m pleased.
Thanks, gropher!
Now, I’m left searching for ideas to make this a useful news area. Watch this space.
This is the first post. I’ve still got a lot to do here, so I’ll see you around.
